Trapped Deer Near Staten Island Station is Free: MTA

A light-brown deer was set free after being trapped near a railway station in Staten Island.

The deer appeared to be sitting patiently between a fence and a track near Grasmere station. A witness claims it was trapped for at least two days.

The MTA had to suspend service Thursday morning to cut the fence to release the deer. Service was down from 9:38 a.m. to 9:48 a.m., said MTA officials.

It is not clear where the furry animal trotted off to, or how it got over the fence in the first place.
