DJ Angie Martinez Moves to Power 105.1

After more than two decades at Hot 97, DJ Angie Martinez is moving up the dial to Power 105.1.

The hip-hop and R&B station announced Thursday that Martinez, one of New York City's most recognizable radio personalities, would be hosting the Afternoon Drive weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Martinez announced in an Instagram post Wednesday that she was resigning from Hot 97, with her last broadcast coming that day.

“We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever,” Martinez said in the post. “This was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways.”

The 43-year-old broadcaster, nicknamed “The Voice of New York,” worked with Hot 97 for 25 years, according to a tweet from the station.

Most recently, she hosted an eponymous afternoon drive time interview show, where she booked everyone from rappers such as Jay Z and Kanye West to celebrities, sports stars and President Barack Obama. She is also featured on a reality series about the station that is currently airing on VH1.
