Mystery Lingers in '70s Case of Man Found Dead in Business Suit, Pajamas

Investigators have released a forensic artist's sketch of the victim in the hopes it will lead to his identity

New York State Police are still trying to solve the 46-year-old killing of a still-unidentified man who was wearing a business suit with pajamas underneath when he was slain.

Troopers say his body was found Feb. 1, 1970, down an embankment off a road in the Ulster County town of Saugerties, 40 miles south of Albany.

The man had been shot multiple times in the back of the head. Police say he was most likely killed elsewhere.

The victim, a white male approximately 35 to 45 years old, was found fully clothed in a three-quarters-length raincoat, a business suit, dress shirt and silk tie with the label "Playboy," and the pajamas.

He was also found wearing an imitation ruby ring with a gold setting and an Omega gold wrist watch.

Investigators have released a forensic artist's sketch of the victim in the hopes it will lead to his identity.
