Car Jumps Curb on Store-Lined Street, Hurting 5: NYPD

Five pedestrians were hurt when a car jumped a curb on a busy store-lined avenue in the Bronx Wednesday evening, police say.

It's not clear what caused the vehicle to slam onto the sidewalk at East Fordham Road and Tiebout Avenue at about 6:30 p.m.

Police said three people were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with minor injuries and two others were taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene for driving with a suspended license, but was no yet charged.

Video taken in the aftermath of the crash shows the car on the sidewalk, taped off by cops. Remnants of a glass storefront nearby were scattered on the ground.
