Two police officers on Long Island were injured when their patrol car collided with a truck.
Police say the officers were responding to an emergency call with their lights and sirens on when they collided with a truck at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Flintlock Drive in Shirley Saturday. The truck then spun around and collided with another car stopped at a red light.
Police say one of the officers became trapped in the cruiser when it caught fire but a Good Samaritan put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher. That officers was treated for a non-life threatening injury. The other officer was treated and released.
A woman in the car was treated for minor injuries and released. The driver of the truck was not injured.
