A 20-year-old driver and his friend were both killed when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the woods on Long Island late Tuesday, authorities said.
Zachary Powell and Christian Goody were both killed when Powell’s Infiniti sedan left the roadway while trying to weave through traffic on Moriches Riverhead Road in Northampton, according to authorities.
Another passenger, 19-year-old Ashley Picozzi, was taken to Stony Brook Hospital after the crash and remained in serious condition Wednesday evening.
Authorities said that speed appears to have played a role in the crash, but drugs or alcohol were not thought to have been involved.
Powell’s family declined to comment to NBC 4 New York on Wednesday.
