2 Charged After NY Man Shot, Wounded at Tropicana Hotel: Atlantic City Police Department

A New York man suffered a gunshot wound after an early morning exchange of fire at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City Police officials said.

Officers found Xavier Smith, 25, suffering from a gunshot wound on his right side near the hotel's valet area at Pacific Avenue shortly before 2:40 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. Multiple bullet shell casings were also found nearby.

Smith was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.

Detectives actively searched the area and identified Eugene Storm, 23, and George Walker, 30, with the help of video surveillance footage and Tropicana security guards, police said.

Storm was arrested on sight at Albion Place. He faces a host of charges, including tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a weapon. Authorities said officers found a loaded handgun in a jacket he was wearing and discarded after the shooting.

Walker was arrested by detectives when he returned to the crime scene. He also faces several charges, including two counts of aggravated assault and conspiracy.

Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Bail was set at $150,000 for each man.
