1 Man Dead After Motorcycles Rode on the Same Lane in Brooklyn: NYPD

A man is dead after two motorcycles were driving in the same lane in Crown Heights Sunday, authorities said.

A 2003 Honda CRB and a 2017 Suzuki GSXR were both traveling eastbound on Atlantic Avenue alongside each other in the center line, police said.

Both stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of Buffalo Avenue. When the light turned green, the 35-year-old Honda motorcyclist accelerated past the 31-year-old Suzuki motorcyclist and into a column support for overhead train tracks.

Nathan Johnson, of Queens, was thrown off his motorcycle and onto the road in front of the Suzuki, which subsequently ran him over, police said.

The motorcyclist and his 26-year-old passenger were also thrown off their bike, police said.

Johnson was taken to Interfaith Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Suzuki motorcyclist and passenger were also taken to the hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
