A 19-year-old died and two other teenagers were injured after a Mercedes Benz crashed into a tree in Brooklyn, police said.
The car was traveling north on Kings Highway at Avenue D around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when it hit a tree on a divider that separates the main roadway from a service road, the NYPD said.
A 16-year-old boy who was inside the Mercedes was taken to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition with severe body trauma, police said.
A 19-year-old man was taken to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries. Another 19-year-old man, later identified by police as Claudio Poggy of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the two were in the car when it crashed.
Video from the scene shows the car torn apart by the impact.
An investigation is ongoing.
