Man Wounded in Meatpacking District Shooting

Authorities are searching for a gunman after an early-morning shooting in the Meatpacking District left one man injured Tuesday.

According to police, three friends left the Griffin, a nightclub on Gansevoort Street and were pulling out of a parking spot between West Fourth and Hudson streets around 4:15 a.m., when a driver in a gray minivan backed into them repeatedly.

The three men and the van driver then exited their vehicles and began arguing, police said. At one point the van driver pulled out a gun and shot one of the men.

Officials say the victim and his two friends took off in their car and drove to 14th Street near 10th Avenue, then called 911. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital.

Officials said the man's injuries were not life-threatening.
