For about three minutes, things didn't look so good for the Green Bay Packers Sunday.
Detroit seized momentum in the third quarter after a dreadful first half. They took the lead in the fourth quarter thanks to two Jon Kitna touchdown passes and a safety.
The euphoria at Ford Field didn't last long. Aaron Rodgers, who was largely silent in the second half after a dominant first half performance, hit Greg Jennings on a slant that went for 50 yards and set up a field goal. Then Kitna took over.
In a bad way.
Kitna started his latest run of insane futility by hitting Charles Woodson at the Lions 40. The problem is that Charles Woodson plays for the Packers. That pick set up a Brandon Jackson touchdown run that made the score 34-25, Packers.

Oh, but Kitna wasn't done. He found a wide open Woodson again, this time for a touchdown that made it 41-25. The Lions were still not completely dead down two scores, but Kitna would have nothing of a comeback. On the Lions next possession, Kitna flung one right to Packers safety Nick Collins, who finished the nightmare with another touchdown return.
Rodgers posted his first career 300-yard game, avoided throwing any interceptions, and was very sharp for most of the game. The offense bogged down in the second half, but it wasn't much of Rodgers' fault. Field position was terrible, the run game was dormant, and there were at least four key dropped passes by Green Bay receivers.
In the end, Green Bay had a 48-25 win, and they now have the lead by their lonesome in the NFC North. The Bears and Vikings both lost, with Minnesota falling to 0-2. That gives the Packers a two-game lead over the team many thought would win the division.
