Train Derails in Ohio, Sparks Fireball

A freight train derailed in Columbus, Ohio, overnight on Wednesday, sparking an explosion and fireball that witnesses reported seeing from 10 miles away. Rail company Norfolk Southern said 11 train cars derailed, and at least two of them were still on fire at 5:15 a.m. local time. Authorities evacuated areas within a mile-wide radius of the site near Ohio State University, relocating evacuees to a building at the fairgrounds and haz mat teams were on the scene. WCMH reported that two people were injured but were able to drive themselves to the hospital. About 20,000 gallons of ethanol were burning, the station reported.
