7/22: Tequila and BBQ, Dark Knight on the Hudson

A tequila-and-BBQ tasting, Justin Bond celebrates his solo debut and the Dark Knight screens for free

TASTING: Mosey on down to Hill Country for a Don Julio-backed tequila-and-BBQ extravaganza that’s bound to get you through humpday in a very good mood indeed. House cocktails will segue into a three-course dinner (including chili-rubbed lamb chops and smoked Texas tenderloin) paired with different tequilas and running commentary from the experts. 6-8PM.

THINK PINK: Justin Bond is that rare breed: A downtown drag artist with true staying power and enough clout (and talent) to call the shots. The self-possessed, sometimes-political singer – who’s best known as Kiki of Kiki & Herb fame, but has popped up everywhere from ‘Shortbus’ to the McGarrigle-Wainwright Christmas show – is celebrating the release of his first solo effort, ‘Pink Slip,’ at Highline Ballroom, and donating partial proceeds to help homeless LGBT kids. 8PM.

BATTY: So far, summer 2009 is lacking a big, fat, popcorn-chomping blockbuster – so why not relive summer ’08 with a free Hudson-side screening of ‘The Dark Knight’ at Pier 54? Riverflicks will even supply the popcorn. 8:30PM.
