ST JAMES: As arch literary festival conceits, Bloomsday on Broadway is a doozy: Because James Joyce's quasi-inscrutable novel Ulysses takes place on June 16, Symphony Space rounds up a host of writers and other artists to share their work. This year marks the event's 28th installment (or as they say in lit circles, XXVIII), is centered around a food theme, and features names like Cynthia Harris and Colum McCann, as well as a few under-wraps special guests from the acting world. KIND OF BLUE: At this point, mentioning the Indigo Girls mostly conjures up dorm-room memories of the early-1990s, but the fact is that Emily Saliers and Amy Ray have never wavered from what they do best (not even on their new disc Poseidon and the Bitter Bug), and insodoing have cracked the folk longevity code.
