What You're Doing This Weekend: 1/31-2/1

The Idiotarod race sweeps through town, Michael Ian Black takes Broadway, and more happenings around town

NOW WITH FEWER DOGS: The Idiotarod (not a typo) riffs on the Alaskan race with a day of zany contests involving teams of people careening around New York with a shopping cart. And you can join them! Saturday, 9AM.

THE NEW BLACK: The Stella and State vet, filmmaker, and infamously-banned-from-Facebook Michael Ian Black tears it up at Caroline's. Saturday at 8 and 10:30PM, Sunday at 8PM.

BONG & DANCE: Let newly-reunited pot poster boys Cheech and Chong help you relive the 1970s as they roll (ha!) into NYC on their Light Up America tour at Radio City Music Hall to class up the joint (double ha!). Saturday, 8PM.

JITTERBUG: The monthlong 1939 Project at Symphony Space takes a look at an America on the brink (sound familiar?) - brimming with hope and fear - and the culture that helped shape it (and was shaped by it), from Gone With the Wind to The Big Sleep. Starts Sunday, schedule varies.
