It-Girl Vanessa Traina Collaborates with French Label, Maje

Vanessa Traina, daughter of romance novelist Danielle Steele, is lending some of her downtown cool factor to contemporary French label, Maje, in a 14-piece capsule collection set to hit stores at the end of this month, WWD reports.

Traina is often cited as a source of inspiration for high-end designers like Jack and Lazaro Hernandez, Joseph Altuzarra, and Alexander Wang, so the collaboration—Traina's first ever attempt at design—feels suprisingly "mid-range," or at least affordable for a woman with an infamous penchant for Prada turbans and Kirkwood sandals.

None of this is to say it's in poor taste: The complete line, consisting of 14 silky separates, is meant to evoke '90s-era minimalism through exacting silhouettes and precisely-tailored fits—a wisely restrained choice for Traina's first design effort. Of course, we'll hold out hope for a turban should the two collaborate next season. For now, mark your calendars for March 23, when the collection hits shelves at Barney's New York.
