The CFDA and Lexus Announce Ten Finalists in Eco Fashion Contest

Aimed at pushing sustainable practices in fashion design closer to the norm and less the exception, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Lexus have teamed up for the Eco Fashion Challenge. Ten finalists have been chosen based on their most recent collections—25 percent of which had to be created in an eco-conscious way in order to qualify, reports WWD.

The finalists are a fantastic pack encapsulating an impressive fusion of thoughtful, sustainable design practices, and of course, beautiful individual aethetics. They include: Behnaz Sarafpour, Maria Cornejo (pictured), Monique Péan, Marcia Patmos, Organic by John Patrick, Costello Tagliapietra, Alabama Chanin, Libertine by Johnson Hartig, Subversive Jewelry by Justin Giunta, and Slow and Steady Wins the Race by Mary Ping.

Three winners will be announced next Tuesday, in addition to a "People's Choice" winner that you can vote for on Lexushybridliving.com. As a prize, Lexus will sponsor the three top designers' Fall 2011 shows or presentations. Bragging rights will also be invaluable rewards.
