Tom Mylan's Guide to Sunnyside

He only wears meat at the office.

Tom Mylan took time away from butchering whole animals at Marlow & Daughters to introduce Brooklyn Based to some of his favorite spots to eat in Sunnyside. Not only is the neighborhood “uncrowded and pleasantly weird,” he says he’s “not always in the mood for an hour-plus train ride to Flushing to eat at the secret places where the really cool people go.” Mylan likes to start at Tangra Masala for its lollipop chicken, mango lassis, and what he names the finest hot-and-sour soup in NYC. He breaks for digestion and a “cheesy” $5 flick at Center Cinema, and ends at Mangal for a chicken-and-lamb Turkish sandwich, with plenty of stops in between.
