Theyskens Finally Out at Nina Ricci

Run free!

We really hate to be the bearers of bad tidings on cloudy Monday mornings. But brace yourselves. Olivier Theyskens is out at Nina Ricci. After showing one of the best collections of the entire season, and perhaps that Nina Ricci has ever put out, the designer and the house have decided to part ways months before his contract expires in October. Before you start weeping into your Theyskens dolls (are we the only ones who made one?) WWD is reporting that the crafty designer has retained the trademark on his eponymous label. He's going to do his own line! We hope.

Peter Copping, a top designer for Louis Vuitton, is reportedly up for Theyskens's old job. But if we were him, we'd be wary. Apparently all it takes is one season for Mario Grauso to fire you, despite what the fashion world, and Anna Wintour, want. You have to wonder at the sense of a man who willingly goes against Anna.

Theyskens was rumored to be fighting his firing and refusing to leave. Perhaps a nicer offer has come his way? One that involves his own line and working for a more supportive house. Though if we were him, we'd take a nice long vacation before working again. And maybe go to New York. And maybe call us. Mmmkay? We can get ice cream?
