Is Dustin Hoffman Taking Tips From the 12-Year-Old Critic?

In what was surely one of the most frightful signs of the times yet, Dustin Hoffman was seen yesterday eating lunch not at Le Cirque, The Four Seasons, Michael’s, or even the Spotted Pig, but the Seventh Avenue South branch of Hummus Place — a favorite of not only the cash-strapped Underground Gourmet, but also 12-year-old aspiring restaurant critic David Fishman, whom Alan Richman profiled recently in GQ. The great actor, who presumably is feeling the pinch of the recession like everyone else, tucked into a bowl of what appeared to be the hummus masabacha (the one with whole chickpeas; $5.95) and stoically washed it down with a lemonade.
