Esquire Still Loves David Chang in the Morning

Some New York dishes get a shout-out in Esquire’s just-released list of best breakfasts in America: The muffins at Carrot Top Pastries; the pork bun at Momofuku Bakery (good to see the mag's Chang crush is still going strong!); the brisket grits and pretty much everything else at Shopsin’s, and finally, a Queens contender, King 5 Noodle House: “A Taiwanese breakfast starts with you tiao (“oil sticks”) — long strands of dough puffed up to crispy-chewy perfection in the deep fryer — dunked in bowls of hot, sugared soy milk for a novel fusion of salty and sweet. Everything else perpetuates the carbohydrate bonanza: sticky-rice rolls, savory scallion pancakes, and flaky sesame cakes.” Please, take this list (apparently not online) for what it is, and know that BOB EVANS and the breakfast at the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS are also praised.
