Unfortunately, it's too late to order pretty much anything online (unless you know of a "warp speed" shipping selection we haven't seen yet), so if you're still missing a gift for someone, you're going to have to brave the hordes. If you're like us and just found out you're having Christmas Eve dinner with a bunch of cousins you haven't bought anything for (and kind of were thinking you wouldn't have to), here are our humble suggestions of two places that you might not think would have what you're looking for, but probably do. Just, for the love of god, avoid the holiday markets. Fred Flare in Greenpoint
Yes, it's out of the way (the web site even describes its location by walkable blocks from the G train—the G!), but they have some incredible adorable finds on the cheap, from the clever (a Holly Golightly sleep mask) to the downright hilarious (bacon and eggs Band-Aids, anyone?). If you're looking for something a bit more special, try the Forget-Me-Not ring—a delicate little metal bow rendered in gold or silver. Plus, they have special holiday hours today and are open until 5.Urban Outfitters
Also boasting extended holiday hours (some spots are even open 'til 11PM tonight!), this hipster emporium is actually a great spot to pick up unisex presents like coffee table books and our personal favorite: lomography supplies. Right now they have tons of amazing retro photography supplies, from an instant party camera to an old-fashioned baby-blue-and-black Diana. The Strand
Head straight for impressive art book sections or books on fashion photography. Often you can find something used here that won't break the bank but will still make a weighty addition under the tree, whilst also making you look smart and thoughtful. And that's a tough combination to beat.
