DVF to Launch New Line of Vintage Prints

Diane von Furstenberg is launching a new line, called the The Diane Vintage Collection, featuring updated versions of the designer's iconic seventies-era wrap dresses, bathing suits, shoes, and accessories, including iPad and iPod cases, all in vintage DVF prints.

According to New York Magazine's "The Cut" blog, the vintage-inspired collection is set to go on sale on dvf.com Tuesday, February 22. However, a quick peek at the site revealed three looks are already available: a printed silk maxi wrap dress called the Abigail ($595), in a green Dessert Leaf print, as well as in a black and white Chain Link print; and the Cadence shoe ($98), a flat slip-on red espadrille with square white dots.

Where guessing the the inspiration came from pieces produced in 1974, as the designer has been posting 1974-related trivia questions on her Facebook page to help countdown the days 'til launch.

"The Cut" posted an exclusive video montage of the collection, complete wtih vintage footage of Ms. von Furstenberg, and a shot of a letter from Vogue editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland, dated April 9, 1970:

Diane:

I think your clothes are absolutely smashing.

I think the fabrics, the prints, the cut are all great. This is what we need. We hope to do something very nice for you.
