Brian Wilson Announces Five Local Shows

Musical icon Brian Wilson hits the New York metropolitan area in three short months.

This morning, the Beach Boys maestro announced a trio of concerts at Highline Ballroom, in addition to the recently announced gigs in Ridgefield, Conn., and Montclair, N.J. Wilson will perform his 2010 standards album, Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin, in its entirety along with Beach Boys and solo selections.

These shows are Wilson’s only American shows announced at present, and kick off Wilson’s lengthy tours through Canada and Europe. The Highline shows are held in conjunction with the Blue Note jazz festival, and tickets are available at his site.

Although Wilson will be performing his covers record (which we quite enjoyed), this tour may also provide a clue as to the release date of the decades-anticipated Smile recordings. So far, he’s revealed that this Holy Grail of lost albums will be available sometime this year.
