On Wednesday afternoon, prayers of peace are being offered as the bell at St. Paul's Chapel in lower Manhattan is rung by clergy members and Indian Deputy Consul General Dr. A.M. Gondane.
The bell is rung 20 times in four sets of five based on a New York City firefighters' salute to fallen comrades.
The city of London presented the bell to New York City a year after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
It also has rung following the bombings in London and Madrid, for Virginia Tech victims and on 9/11 anniversaries.
