One to Watch: Scout & Catalogue

Growing up with parents in creative fields, Breanna Musgrove knew it was only a matter of time before she tried her own hand at design.

But it wasn't until after art school and leaving her post as creative director of Aritzia that Musgrove stumbled on her true calling during a 2008 excursion to Puerto Vallarta, a resort city on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

"While living in Mexico I started a blog for friends and family that were curious about my experiences in a new culture," Musgrove explains. "I called the blog Scout & Catalogue as I was scouting my new surroundings and cataloguing them on the blog. When I started creating scarves and bags to sell, the name just stuck."

Four years later, and Musgrove is still "cataloguing" her creations—smart dyed clutch bags, colorful scarves and even a few friendship bracelets, all of which exude a cool, carefree vibe.

"I am particularly fond of feeling fashionable while still being relaxed and comfortable," Musgrove says. "As much as I admire every girl in killer heels I have never quite perfected the art of walking in them myself, and I feel like I bring that sensibility to my line...I want everything to be able to travel from the beach to a corporate office with ease."

Indeed, any one of her colorful hand-dyed foldover clutches would be as appropriate on a seaside voyage as it would at post-work drinks.
