Mugler Fall 2011: Lady Gaga, Neoprene and Face Tattoos

Having engineered some of Gaga's most buzzed-about looks of 2010, the pop star's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, made his formal debut as the head of the house of Mugler yesterday in Paris with more than a little bit of fanfare.

The fashion set and its diaspora, which undoubtedly includes Lady Gaga's legion of more than seven million Twitter followers, finally got a glimpse at dark, theatrical vision for the brand's menswear, along with Gaga's soundtrack, that included the singer's newest, previously unheard track.

The highlight of the show was the big reveal of the collection's muse, a model named Rico with wild skeletal tattoos whom Formichetti found on Facebook.

While initial reviews have been mixed -- we're all still sorting through the bells and whistles of what was unleashed to get to the quality at its core -- it's clear that Formichetti has the same provocative command of the moment's full attention as do his mentor and muse. The line featured everything from colorful skinny suits to neoprene bondage-inspired ensembles to face veils -- a theatrical start, to be sure.
