The first 200 in line at Macy's this morning were rewarded with freebies and first dibs on the line co-designed by Madonna and her daughter.
Our intrepid reporter got in line at 8:50 AM (number 35!), and reported that by 9:30 the line still wasn't all that impressive. In addition, it seems not too many folks had the courage to actually dress like Material Girls before noon. (The reward for dressing up, apparently, is the potential reward of T-shirts signed by Madonna herself). That said, there were definitely faux Material Girls passing out gift tags to the first 200 in line, complete with tulle skirts and bows in their hair.
By the time the doors of Macy's opened at 10AM, however, the line had stretched down the block and a horde of what appeared to be more than 150 people crowded into the Material Girl section of the store. Our full report on the goods and our interview with the Macy's CEO to come, so stay tuned.
