The latest crime stats for 2011 so far show rapes are up 20 percent and murders are about even when compared with the same period last year.
The CompStat report covering the period up to May 15 shows there have been 556 rapes reported so far in 2011, compared with 460 last year.
There have been 166 murders, and 165 last year.
Robberies and burglaries are down slightly, and assaults are up a bit. For the full report, look here.
