NYT's Favorite Veggie Burgers Around Manhattan

Vegetarian burgers are fairly plentiful around town, and while opinions are many and varied, the New York Times has come out with its own list of "burgers of note" around Manhattan.

Most preferred was the the veggie burger at Hillstone (153 East 53rd St.), which, at $16, is "[p]ossibly the priciest veggie burger in New York, and worth it," according to the Times. The patty is made of brown rice, black beans and red beets, and served with an "impeccable" bun and house-made Worcestershire sauce.

Other favored veggie burgers:

  • Westville (210 West 10th St.)
  • Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop (129 Rivington St.)
  • Burger & Barrel (25 West Houston St.)
  • Alias (76 Clinton St.)
  • Blue Smoke (116 East 27th St.)
  • Royale (157 Avenue C)
  • Five Napkin Burger (630 Ninth Ave.)
  • Shake Shack (Madison Square Park)

Be wary, though. As the Times points out, "just because it's vegetarian doesn't mean it's healthy."
