Arrested Development: Remy Gets Its Hole Plugged

It's been over a year since we last reported on Remy, the Costas Kondylis-designed cantilevered tower planned for the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 28th Street that never quite got off the ground, even when the market was healthy. That site has been dead for so long that a funeral was in order. So be it. Over the past couple of weeks a crew gave the Remy a burial by filling the long-completed foundation up to the brim with big chunks of concrete rubble. Based on permits posted at the site it looks like the neighbors were in danger of some sort of possible collapse. To make sure no disasters struck the long-dormant site on this busy corner, the Department of Buildings ordered the stabilizing cover-up. Will these nondos rise from the dead? Hey, it's almost Halloween, and spookier things have happened.
