The southern fried favorite for brunch and comfort food with a full-on vegan menu section, Old Devil Moon, will be closing this week, according to JVNY. A tipster says the place may close as soon as today and there is no word yet on Masturbaker's erotic cake creations, which was also housed on the premises. The place was most famous for brunch spreads that would make a hungover New Orleans jazz band proud, complete with Abitas and Lone Stars. They never had a full liquor license though, but skirted the issue by serving sake Bloody Marys, which went surprising well with Mexican-inspired egg dishes and grits. The comfy, though a bit tattered, booths, year-round Christmas lights and mounted-animal-head walls will be missed by the East Village regulars and irregulars who felt at home there.
