A First Look at Korean Sammy Spot
Looking for some good Korean food? Check out this joint.

A reader comment on our New & Notable Grub Map tipped us off to a Korean fast-food joint on St. Marks Place that's just a few days old (keep those tips coming, people).

Seoul Station, run by a first-time operator, is still getting its legs (they'll be serving OB beer as soon as the license comes in, plus cinnamon and rice drinks), but the sandwich we tried yesterday (packed with a mouthful of veggies including pickled daikon and shiitake mushrooms as well as egg and your choice of meat or tofu on a toasted roll) held its own as a Korean alternative to the ones at Nicky's Vietnamese.

And here's a secret about it: You can order it with provolone. Not quite as successful: The al dente dumplings topped with sesame seeds. The full menu follows.

Bibimbap (white or brown rice, egg, zucchini, carrots, shitake mushrooms, spinach,
bean sprouts, lettuce, side of chili paste, with *choice of meat/tofu) - $7.75
Kimbap (white rice, egg, carrots, spinach, pickled daikon, with *choice of meat/tofu
wrapped in dried seaweed) - $5.50
Choice of Prime Beef, Ginger Chicken, Spicy Pork, or Tofu
    Extra meat - $2
Seoul Sandwich (toasted white or whole wheat roll, egg, zucchini, carrots, pickled daikon,
spinach, shitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, lettuce, spicy house dressing, with choice of meat/tofu)
    $6.95
Combo Box (white or brown rice, 2 vegetable or pork dumplings, kimchi, kimchi stew,
    and choice of meat/tofu) $8.95

    Extras
Dumplings (4) steamed handmade vegetable or pork dumpling - $2.95
Mini Buns (3) steamed handmade buns filled with vegetables - $2.95
Kimchi spicy pickled cabbage - $1.95

Kimchi Stew spicy soup with kimchi and tofu - $1.15

    Drinks
    Soda / Water $1.25
Korean Beverages (not yet available) $1.50
Domestic Beer (not yet available) $3.50
Imported Beer (not yet available) $3.95

Seoul Station, 81 St. Marks Pl., nr. First Ave.; 212-979-9300
