Peter Luger has been serving up fine steaks for more than 100 years. The flagship Brooklyn location was founded in 1887, and a second location was later opened on Long Island. Luger's old-school wood interior fosters an all-are-welcome environment not always found in America's great steakhouses. While some steak connoisseurs might describe an artistic experience while enjoying a perfectly presented dinner, the Luger family treats the selection of its beef like a science. And don't expect a fruity cocktail before dinner; Luger's Web site boasts of a "true classic gentleman's bar."
