The mystery Powerball winner from Arizona who presented his ticket to lottery officials last week, but chose to remain anonymous, has been identified as Matthew Good, a 37-year-old electronics industry professional,
The Associated Press reported. Through a public records request, the wire service was able to obtain his name. Property records showed that Good paid $289,900 for a 2,500-square-foot residence in Fountain Hills, Ariz.—an affluent Phoenix suburb. He had recently relocated from what the AP describes as a modest Pennsylvania home. His stepmother, Charlotte Good, told the AP that she helped raise Matt since he was 5 years old after his biological mother died from cancer. In his late teens, she said, he moved to the house next door to live with his ailing grandfather. Neighbors reached in Arizona told the AP that Good has a warm relationship with his daughter, who is about 5. Good opted for a one-time cash payment of $192 million after hitting the numbers in the Nov. 28 Powerball drawing. A couple from Missouri split the record $587.5 million pot with him.
