Uber is offering free credit to LIRR commuters today ahead of Thursday's statewide launch of ride sharing.
Uber employees will hand out cards with the promo information at the Hicksville LIRR station Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The $50 credit does not expire and is applicable for current users as well as those who never used the app before.
"We are encouraging commuters to leave their car at home and instead use Uber as an affordable alternative to the headache of parking at Hicksville," said Alix Anfang, an Uber spokesperson.
Commuters have had to deal with a shortage of car parking spaces at the lot at Hicksville station.
