Teen Flashed Fake NYPD Badge at Bar: Police

Police arrested a teenager hanging out at a suburban New York bar for allegedly flashing an unusual form of fake identification: a phony police ID.

The 16-year-old, whose name was withheld by police, claimed to be a police officer while chatting up a Rockville Center bar manager Friday evening, the Nassau County Police Department said. The teen pulled out a bogus New York Police Department identification card, complete with a shield number, police said.

The bar manager was skeptical and called local police after the youth left. Police found him near the bar and the youth continued to claim to be an officer.

The teen, from Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, also possessed fake New York and Colorado driver's licenses and two forged credit cards.

He was arrested on false personation and other charges.
