A holiday weekend traffic checkpoint in one of New York's best-known beach areas has yielded 10 arrests for offenses including driving while intoxicated, drug possession and gun possession.

Officers from three departments joined forces to set up the checkpoint in Southampton between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.

Southampton town police said a passenger in one of the cars they  stopped, 55-year-old James Stilley, had a loaded 9mm handgun as well as cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone. He was arrested on gun and drug charges.
