Out-of-Control Car Slams into Bronx Electronics Store, 4 Hurt: NYPD

An out-of-control car plowed into a Bronx electronics store Friday afternoon, mowing down at least one woman as it shattered the storefront, police and witnesses say.

It's not clear what caused the driver to lose control in front of 613 East 138th St. in Mott Haven at about 6 p.m.

The car slammed into the store and hurt four pedestrians, police say. A worker inside the store said he saw a woman standing outside get hit by the car.

"I hear a car accelerating, and the people that were outside, one of the girls got blown into the store," said the worker at Cyber Electronics. "It was horrible."

"From zero to 100, you hear this noise, and then glass shattering and dust," he said.

"I was scared for the girl. She had her eyes closed, she was bleeding from her elbow, her knees, her back. She was asking for her dog," the worker said, adding that her dog had been with her when she was hit.

Police say four people were taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The driver was taken into custody but has not been arrested on charges, police say.
