3 New York K9s Getting New Protective Vests

Three western New York police dogs are being outfitted with new vests that will protect them from bullets and knives.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says the K9s are getting the vests through the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s Inc. of East Taunton, Massachusetts, which received nearly $3,000 in donations.

The three dogs are assigned to the Erie County Holding Center and Erie County Correctional Facility, where they search visitors, inmates and the grounds for contraband.

The donations for the vests came from Hot Yoga Spot of Latham and the Cannata Family Foundation of Foxboro, Massachusetts.
