Police in New Jersey say they are looking for a carjacker who took off with a child in the back seat before ditching the vehicle nearby.
The alleged carjacker jumped into a vehicle that had its engine running outside an apartment building at Springfield Avenue and Grove Street in Irvington Wednesday evening, police said. He took off with the child in the backseat.
The suspect jumped out about a block or two later, leaving the child in the car.
Police retrieved the vehicle and reunited the baby with the mother. The suspect is still being sought.
