Livery Cab Driver Shot in Harlem

A 30-year-old livery cab driver was shot by a fare who pretended to forget something at the place where he was picked up and robbed the driver when he went back to the location, police said.

Authorities say the driver was dispatched to Harlem River Drive Wednesday night and picked up two men who asked to go somewhere in the Bronx.

At some point, the men asked to go back, claiming they had forgotten something. They both got out of the car when they returned to Harlem River Drive, then one man came back with a gun, police said.

The gun-wielding man demanded property from the driver, then opened fire.

The driver, who lives in Manhattan, was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
