We know, Santa. We're just as bummed about it as you are.

Strong winds have postponed Santa's arrival at an Albany-area Christmas tree farm and knocked out power to thousands of people across New York state.

Wind gusts that reached about 50 mph in the Albany area spurred Ellms Family Farm to call off Santa's parachute plunge Saturday afternoon. More than 8,000 homes and businesses around the state were without electricity.

The National Weather Service says it measured a 47 mph wind gust at its Albany office early Saturday, and a 53 mph gust was charted at Albany International Airport.

Winds were weakening gradually during the day.

Santa is now tentatively set to drop in Sunday at the Ellms farm. It's in Ballston Spa, about 30 miles north of Albany.
