Construction Worker Fatally Hit by Car Outside Newark Hospital

The 70-year-old driver has not been charged

A 50-year-old construction worker was fatally struck by a car outside St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark Monday, authorities said.

David Seeley of Washington Township, N.J., was working near the entrance of the hospital when he was hit by the car at about 10:30 a.m., according to authorities.

A preliminary investigation indicates the 70-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control and struck Seeley and two other construction workers.

Seeley was pronounced dead at Saint Michael's Medical Center.

The two other workers were taken to University Hospital in critical condition but have since been updated to guarded condition.

The driver was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Charges have not been filed against him, authorities said.
