Conn. Woman Arrested for Leaving Young Kids Alone to Go Shopping

A Connecticut woman is facing charges for allegedly leaving her children in the car while she went Black Friday bargain hunting.

Police say at about 1:45 a.m. Friday a shopper at the East Windsor Walmart told officers at the store that two children had been left in a parked car.

Police tell The Hartford Courant they found the 2-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy sleeping in the back seat of a running, unlocked car.

Devi Parakulam-Krishnamoo of Glastonbury told police she ran into the store briefly to give her husband his cell phone. Police say the children were left alone for at least 30 minutes.

The 31-year-old Parakulam-Krishnamoo was charged with two counts of leaving a child unsupervised in a public place or motor vehicle, and released on $5,000 bail.
