Gas Leak Forces Evacuations at New Jersey College

Two residence halls housing 400 students and three academic buildings at The College of New Jersey have been evacuated after a gas main leak at a construction site on campus, school officials say.

Students living in houses along Route 31 across from the Mercer County campus were also asked to leave the area after the leak was reported around 11:15 a.m. Monday.

School officials said a contractor working at the construction site hit the gas main. Classes were canceled in nearby buildings until further notice. All other campus buildings are open and operating normally.

PSE&G is at the site.

No injuries were reported.
