Black Bear Tries to Beat the Heat by Morristown Pool

The bear moved on before police arrived

An enterprising black bear found refuge from the heat Wednesday beside a Morristown, N.J. family's pool.

Anne Joyce said she noticed the bear hanging out near the pool around 9 a.m. Wednesday, just as the day's crushing heat was beginning. She called 911, but by the time police responded, the bear had moved on.

Joyce's 9-year-old son, James, took some photos of the bear from inside the house.
