Another heat wave is expected this week, bringing four days of boiling highs above 90 degrees amid haze and humidity, Storm Team 4 says.
Temperatures in Central Park are expected to top the 90-degree mark late Monday afternoon amid isolated thunderstorms. They won't come back down again until at least Friday, when Storm Team 4 says an area of high pressure will push the heat out of the region.
If the thermometer tops 90 degrees for more than three days in a row this week, it'll be the second heat wave of the summer for the city. The last heat wave, in early August, was the first one the city had seen since 2013.
This week's heat could feel even more unbearable thanks to humidity and haze that will settle in over the region and make it feel much hotter. And aside from a stray thunderstorm or two Monday, there shouldn't be much in the way of rain to break up the heat, Storm Team 4 says.
If there's a silver lining to the sizzling conditions, it'll be that the heat and humidity will both come down toward the weekend. Friday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s, while Saturday and Sunday should be sunny and warm, with temperatures in the mid 80s.
