Police arrested three other youths in the carjacked vehicle

A 13-year-old boy died when the carjacked vehicle he was riding in crashed during a police chase in northern New Jersey, authorities said.

The Essex County prosecutor's office said Irvington police were pursuing the vehicle when it hit another vehicle and slammed into a utility pole late Sunday night.

Police arrested three other youths in the carjacked vehicle.

The prosecutor's office says a person in the vehicle that was hit was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities are not releasing the names of those arrested because of their ages.
