5-Foot Sand Shark Forces Closure of Seaside Beach

Cops arrested Snooki for disorderly conduct at the same beach yesterday

Maybe he just wanted Snooki's autograph.

A 5-foot sand shark spotted at Seaside Park, the same beach where the pint-sized "Jersey Shore" starlet was arrested for disorderly conduct yesterday, forced lifeguards to order everyone out of the water for the third time this month.

Authorities saw the formidable shark swimming just about 10 feet off shore and sounded the alarm at about 2:30 p.m. Beach patrol officials watched the fish mosy its way from the north end of the town to the south before it finally swam back out to sea.

Swimmers were then allowed back in the water. (It wasn't clear how many actually did. Would you?)

A spokeswoman for Seaside Park Beach Control told Philly.com that it's fairly common to see sand sharks because "they're out there all the time feeding on dead fish," but, "this one just happened to come in closer than normal.

Shark sightings have already forced lifeguards to shut down Seaside Park three times this summer. Sharks were spotted north of the beach on July 12, and three days later, two sharks spotted south of the beach prompted another closure.
